Dr. Seuss will be celebrated in the month of March. We will learn rhyming songs and stories, try saying tongue twisters, make oobleck in our science center, paint with our feet, pretend to be king of all that we see like Yertle the Turtle, draw pictures of the places we will go, cook and taste green eggs and ham, fish for red/blue/yellow fish, make dot art pictures in honor of “The Cat in the Hat”, and act wacky on Wed. Our classes will learn about spring the flowers and plants it brings. We will even grow grass in our milk jug Easter baskets! The color green will be our focus. We will try different green foods and graph the results, paint green shiny pictures, piece together clovers, cut and sorting different green items. Easter fun is on its way as we seek plastic eggs, learn about bunnies and other baby animals, practice hopping, read “Peter Cottontail”, create lunch bag bunnies, sing “Little Bunny Foo Foo” and sort/count/glue colored pom poms.
As you know, we are working towards having the center rated by Qualistar. Qualistar utilizes a rating scale called ITERS & ECERS. This rating scale has encouraged us to make a few changes. One change is to keep the children’s sweaters/coats from touching each other. This will require your help. We are asking you to provide each of your children with a vinyl backpack that will fit their sweater/coat. We need the backpacks to be brought to the center by Friday March 22. Thank you!
"Kids in the Kitchen", this event is hosted by the Junior Leagues. The event is on Sat March 9 from 10 am – 1 pm at the Freedom Financial Service Expo Center 3650 Nevada Ave.
Conferences will be held Tuesday April 9 & April 16. Please sign up if you wish to have a conference with your child’s teacher. Please specify if you have and desire a conference for more than one child.
We will be sending home a science activity for you to enjoy with your family. This activity consists of cornstarch and water. You mix the two ingredients together and watch what happens! We will provide sample questions to help build language and discovery. The activity bags will be available on Thursday March 21. Enjoy!
